Celebrating States in the Sunshine on Mother's Day

May 9, 2014 – Don't forget Mother’s Day is this Sunday.   This year Truth in Accounting celebrates eight states with mothers (and fathers) that have left a responsible financial legacy for their children – Iowa, Tennessee, South Dakota, Nebraska, Utah, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Alaska.

Truth in Accounting calls these states “Sunshine States.”  After analyzing all their debts, these state governments have more than enough assets available to pay their bills.  Each taxpayer's share of the money available is expressed by as a "Taxpayer Surplus."

The elected officials of mothers in these states have been truly balancing the state's budget.  They have not passed the cost of providing mothers and other citizens current services and benefits on to their children.

Moms in these states can be proud, for their children’s sake.  Here’s to a sunny day on Mother’s Day!
