Days on Zillow
Days on Zillow refers to "the median days on market of homes sold within a given month, including foreclosure re-sales. The latest data is for one month prior to the current ZHVI (e.g., if the most current month for ZHVI data is January, the most current month for Days on Zillow data will be December)." The number of days given here is the average median number of days for an entire year, calculated by Data-Z staff.
In one example, the median number of days for homes in Chicago was 116.6 days in 2015. This means that half the number of homes sold were on the market less than 116.6 days and half of all home sales were on the market for more than 116.6 days before being sold. Days on Zillow was calculated by adding together the median number of days for all 12 months and then dividing by 12.
