The investment earnings subcategory of revenue is the the amount of revenue generated by a government's investments. These numbers are found on "The Statement of Activities" in each government's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).

The U.S.Census Bureau defines investment earnings as follows:

"Earnings on Investments – Interest, dividends, rents, and other earnings on investments. Includes realized and unrealized gains on sale of investments net of any realized or unrealized losses based on reporting market value for corporate bonds and stocks."  -- http://www.census.gov/govs/definitions/
