Sales tax percentage of general revenue is the percentage of a state's general revenue composed of the state's sales tax revenue, including general and selective sales taxes. Information regarding General Sales Tax and Selective Sales Tax can be obtained from the Annual Survey of State Government Finances of the US Census Bureau. The sum of both the general sales tax as well as selective sales taxes is divided by the general revenue to obtain the percentage.
