McCormick Foundation

The Robert R. McCormick Foundation is committed to fostering communities of educated, informed and engaged citizens. Through philanthropic programs, Cantigny Park and museums, the Foundation helps develop citizen leaders and works to make life better in our communities. The Foundation was established as a charitable trust in 1955, upon the death of Colonel Robert R. McCormick, the longtime editor and publisher of the Chicago Tribune. The Robert R. McCormick Foundation is one of the nation's largest foundations, with more than $1 billion in assets.

Its focus areas include civic engagement and education, early childhood education, assistance for disadvantaged communities, and serving veterans. A big part of its mission is sustaining the parks, gardens, golf course and museums at Col. McCormick’s former estate at Cantigny Park, in Wheaton, Ill., which he left in trust for the people of Illinois.

The McCormick Foundation is headquartered in Chicago. Its offices are in the Illinois Center, located at 205 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 4300. In addition, the Foundation has another office located in Wheaton, Illinois, on its benefactor’s estate.
