At Tribune meeting, five Chicago mayoral candidates duck specifics on how to fill pension hole

Five candidates for Chicago mayor on Tuesday declined to outline a specific plan on how they would cover a $300 million pension hole in a matter of months if elected later this spring. In the first of three mayoral panels hosted by the Chicago Tribune Editorial board this week, former U.S. Commerce Secretary Bill Daley, City Hall veteran and attorney Gery Chico, state Rep. LaShawn Ford, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and businessman Willie Wilson faced questions on how they’d make the additional pension payment in their first budget as mayor.
