High court to hear pensioners' suit Thursday

APRIL 9, 2018 | by Katherine Gregg | PROVIDENCE JOURNAL (RHODE ISLAND)

"On Thursday, the Rhode Island Supreme Court will hear oral arguments by the lawyers representing 140 or so retired public employees still fighting the pension cuts Raimondo championed in 2011, in her role as state treasurer. Specifically: the suspension of annual 'cost-of-living' increases. ... The years-long legal battle has cost the state $2,075,432 so far in payments to the Adler Pollock and Sheehan law firm for $350-a-hour lawyer John Tarantino and his $150-an-hour associate, Nicole Benjamin, and early on, Boies, Schiller & Flexner."
