Republican leaders take cautious approach to Iowa’s $289 million budget surplus

The state of Iowa will end its 2019 fiscal year with a surplus of more than $289 million in its general fund, but Republican political leaders were cautious about discussing where the money might be spent. … Last year's budget surplus was $127 million. House Speaker Linda Upmeyer says with tax cuts passed last year it's important to make sure there's enough cash flow to pay the state's bills.
